Dreaming of Fish

Dreaming of fish swimming tends to represent insights from your unconscious mind especially when associated with the ocean. Catching a fish represents insights which have been brought to the surface.

Dreaming of Fish Eggs

Eggs are often associated with our potential and new beginnings. To see fish eggs in your dream represent a new idea or new direction that is emerging from your unconscious.

Fish and Fertility

Fish are often seen as a symbol of fertility and personal growth. Seeing a fish swimming in your dream may symbolize conception. People often associate the image of sperm with fish in the ocean. Some women dream of swimming fish when they get pregnant.

Dreaming of fish in relation to others has a lot of symbolism. The fish's place within the food chain may reveal a lot to the dreamer about where they think they are socially, their confidence, their sense of power, and other related issues.

A play-on-words with" fish"

Fish-related common phrases may link the dreamer to the meaning of his/her fish dream. Consider the following: "like a cold fish", "fish out of water" or something that is "fishy" about a situation. Depending upon the nature of the fish, you may also want to consider phrases associated with being "lured" or "hooked" to something (or someone). It may also imply a slippery or elusive situation. Perhaps your dream could be telling you that "there are plenty of other fish in the sea", with regards to some relationship issue. Lastly if you are fishing, it could relate to "fishing for compliments" and show that you are have a need for attention and recognition.

Eating or Cooking Fish in a Dream

Cooking and eating are often associated with nourishing the soul and are looked upon as spiritual in general.

Eating fish in a dream is often symbolic of the dreamers beliefs, spirituality, energy and nourishment. Eating the fish shows you are incorporating your new realizations with your identity and beliefs.

Cooking fish in a dream means the same thing as eating fish but is focused more on preparation and the process the dreamer is undertaking in order to incorporate new information, new concepts, and new discoveries into who they are as a person in their waking life. How the dreamer is preparing the fish may give important insight into what the dreamer is struggling with during this inner transformation.

Cleaning Fish: Related to cooking and eating fish, cleaning fish in a dream suggests that you are altering your emotional expression in a way that will be presentable and acceptable to others. The dreamer is censoring him/herself and not expressing how he/she completely feels.

Dreaming of Dead Fish

To see a dead fish signifies disappointment and loss. This loss can be associated with power/wealth, an idea, a spiritual chapter of one's life, or infertility. Since fish are often associated with the unconscious, a dead fish may symbolize the end of something old giving way for new growth and potential. Death is an important symbol of dreams and can have both positive and negative associations for the dreamer. It is important to decipher if the ending and new beginning this dream is acknowledging is positive or negative for the dreamer. Ending something premature could have negative consequences yet holding onto something too long can stunt the dreamer's personal growth and development.

Dreaming of a Fish Tank or Fish Bowl

A Fish Tank is the container of our emotions. The size and general quality of the fish tank will show the dreamer what state their emotions are in. Fish tanks in general show the dreamer they may be compartmentalizing their emotions which may lead to not being in touch with their full being. Dreaming of a fish tank may show you you keep your feelings in check. If you are watching the fish in a fishbowl, you may feel detached from society, your life is going nowhere or that you are going in circles with your life.

To dream that you are living in a fish tank or fish bowl may mean you are feeling detached from society but may mean that you are feeling the pressure of those around you. Consider the phrase of "living in a fish bowl". Fish in fish bowls have no where to hide, no where to go without their owner viewing their every move. The dreamer may feel judged, criticized and scrutinized by others. This is normally associated with a family unit, a school setting or a workplace.

Dreaming of fishing for a larger fish than anticipated may mean the dreamer feels he/she may not be able to handle what he/she is dredging up from the unconscious- that the idea or information is too large for them to handle.

Dreaming of Someone Fishing

A fisherman in dreams suggests the dreamer is trying to catch something in his/her waking life.

Dreaming of fishing could mean the dreamer is confronting repressed emotions and bringing them to the surface. Ice fishing suggests the dreamer is breaking through a hardened emotional barrier and confronting difficult feelings from the unconscious.

Be careful with over-interpreting- Fishing could also mean the dreamer has a need for leisure and relaxation.

Dreaming of a Fishing Rod

A fishing rod in dreams represents the tools and motivation you have necessary for your quest and exploration of your unconscious mind. You are ready to confront issues and emotions which you have suppressed. Dreaming of the fishing rod may indicate to you that you are going to embark on an internal journey of self-discovery. If your dream is focused on the tools and planning and not the act of fishing, this is showing you that you are preparing for this personal quest and are close to gaining insight.

Dreaming of Fish Hooks

Fishhooks in dreams may refer to an idea that you need to" catch." The dream may also indicate that you are getting hooked on something. A fishhook may also mean you are being tricked or manipulated into doing something or buying into a false idea.

Dreaming of Jellyfish

Jellyfish in dreams can mean a few different things based on the type of jellyfish. Some jellyfish can sting and are very dangerous while others are simply harmless and spineless. A jellyfish may represent painful memories that are emerging from your unconscious. There may be hidden hostility or aggression in some aspect of the dreamer's waking relationship or situation. Dreaming of a jellyfish may also indicate feelings of inadequacy, uncertainty and a lack of self-esteem. Perhaps you are having trouble standing up for yourself in a specific situation in your waking life. Or perhaps you feel as though you have no "spine" and are not upholding your morales and what you believe and stand for.

If the jellyfish in your dream seems like a positive symbol, it may relate to going with the flow. Jellyfish move with the ocean. Perhaps you've been swept up by something larger than yourself and have found serenity.

Christian Fish Symbol

Dreaming of Fish: The Christian Perspective on Dreams

The fish is also an ancient symbol of Christianity and Christian beliefs and dreaming of a fish may refer to the dreamer's beliefs and experiences within the Christian Church. Look in any illustrated christian book and you will find images of Jesus on a fishing boat. Even the Apostles were referred to as fisherman or the fisher of men. Common proverbs such as "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" may also give meaning to a dream of fish.

Here are bible verses which mention fish are:

  • Mark 1:17: "Come after Me, and I will make you become fishers of men."
  • Matthew 12:40: "...Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."
  • Matthew 14:17: "And they said to Him, 'We have here only five loaves and two fish.'"
  • Luke 5:6: "And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking."
  • Luke 24:42: "So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb."
  • John 21:6: "And He said to them, 'Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.' So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish."
  • 1 Corinthians 15:39: "All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fish, and another of birds."

According to Albatrus.org: "When threatened by Romans in the first centuries after Christ, Christians used the fish [symbol to] mark meeting places and tombs, or to distinguish friends from foes."

The fish symbol is still used to signify Christianity today. We often see bumper sticker on cars, for instance, as we drive on the highway or people with fish symbols on necklaces or tee-shirts.

Dreaming of Fish: Alternative and Cultural Perspectives

Dreaming of a fish may relate to the historical and cultural meaning of fish. Perhaps the dreamer is either from these cultures, is influenced by these cultures or have studied these cultures.

  • Pagan: Great Mother Goddess was often depicted as a fish or a woman with a fish over her genitals.
  • Chinese: Great Mother Kwan-yin was often symbolized as a fish.
  • Indian: the Goddess Kali was called the "fish-eyed one."
  • Egyptian: Isis was called the Great Fish of the Abyss
  • Greek: the Greek word "delphos" means both fish and womb.
  • Astrology: Fish are often associated with the astrological sign of Pisces.
  • Mediterranean: Various religions used fish, wine and bread for their sacramental meal.
  • Scandinavian: Fish were eaten in Freya, the Great Goddess's honor. The sixth day of the week was named "Friday" after her.
  • Middle Eastern: the Great Goddess of Ephesus was depicted as a woman with a fish over her genitals.

Dreaming of catching fish three times and all not thesame day. Also catching big and small fish

that was kind of right

I was watching Voyager when I saw a hologram holding a cylindrical fish tank that was pretty.

Then last night I kept dreaming of someone holding this tank, only it was full of different kinds of little fish. They were all dark colored fish, black and silver. I recognized one as a marbled angelfish (my fav fish). They were swimming round and around, and every few minutes I would snatch one in my teeth and eat it raw and alive. Not sure how I was able to get through the glass to bite the fish, but I kept doing it. Someone was holding the tank, like in the scene from tv earlier, but the fish were different and I was eating them. I woke several times dreaming this dream. It grossed me out thinking of eating raw fish, but I kept doing it. They were little fish, bite sized, maybe a bit bigger.

Hi Kasi,

That's a cool dream! Many times I am influenced by movies or events of my day but I do find it interesting what specific snippet of my day grabbed my attention and what this could mean for me right now.

Since you read my little article, you know that fish can mean a lot of things. This dream sounds like you have been viewing your unconscious in some way and taking it in. Although it sounds gross when you awoke, eating the fish raw was quite a symbol of pulling these aspects of your unconscious into your conscious identity. The fact that the glass was there but was somehow not really a barrier is interesting and is very telling- we build all sorts of walls around ourselves or make assumptions that things are not possible yet they are.

I know you were grossed out thinking about this dream but how did you feel in the dream? If it was a pleasant dream then it sounds like you are truly experiencing great personal growth. If you were grossed out in the dream or felt negatively in some way, it may be that you are still undergoing personal growth and development but are having some mixed feelings about it.

Kasi 3 months ago

I'm not sure how I felt in the dream. I wasn't frightened, I just found it odd and gross each time I woke up! Lol! In the dream, I was... 'intent', just intent on the light, watching the fish swim, and snatching what I could.

I will say I have been doing some self reflection as of late, so I'm pretty sure you hit the nail right on the head. I've been very focused on this self reflection for about a week, more so in the last couple of days, so I guess this explains my dream very well, thank you! :) Thank you very much!

In my dream, I was fishing and caught 4 fish. A trout, a perch, a cod and something else I don't remember. I put them all in my ice chest and went to find out how I should cook/clean them.

I found interpretation for trout (and fishing/fish etc) But nothing for Perch, or Cod. Any help?

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 3 months ago

Hi Rich Brown,

Do you have specific characteristics you associate with perch and cod? Cod is the state fish of Massachusetts and Perch is the state fish of Louisiana- if you knew this perhaps this is what your dream is referring to. Or else, it is possible the different fish are representing a variety of things for you such as having many perspectives, etc.

Rich Brown profile image

Rich Brown 3 months ago

Thanks for your response.

I have nothing associated with fish in general. I'm a hunter, not a fisher. I can't even say why I knew they were different kinds of fish, just a dream thing I guess. As far as them being state fish, I didnt' know that either. I was kind of hoping there was some sort of characteristics associated with them, like I found with trout.

That being said, it makes sense to me that the many perspectives could be the simple interpretation, without even knowing the individual meanings.

I dream of fish in a ocean? Still confused

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 3 months ago

Hi Ally,

In the beginning of this hub I mention that fish are often associated with gaining insight into our unconscious-especially when fish are in the ocean. The ocean is often a symbol of the unconscious and what is mysterious and unknown to us. The fish can represent our insights and what is emerging from our unconscious that we are starting to become more aware of.

Are you a dream interpreter? I have a recurring dream of a gray elephant and smaller happy animals. It's a pleasant dream.

Nice hub.

Hi Ann Davis,

Yes I am a dream interpreter and love dreams. I would most likely interpret your dream of the elephant and happy animals as representations of aspects of self. It sounds like you most likely express the other sides to you and are in harmony based on that dream.

Hello,

I dreamt of opening the lid to a fish bowl and all of these different type of fish were trying to jump out or "escape" I remember frantically attempting to keep them in..there were 3 small blue fish that jumped up and bit at my fingers. They attached themselves even..I had to shake them off and throw them back into the bowl. I remember being a bit panicked, but manged to get them back in and close the lid.

Any thoughts?

Thanks :)

Sue B. Hub Author 3 months ago

Hi Hazel,

Thanks for commenting. You share an interesting dream and one that demonstrates how much context is important.

Since fish are typically representing the insights bubbling up from our unconscious, this dreams sounds as though you want to keep something unconscious as if you do not want to look at something that causes you anxiety and panic and you are using your best efforts to keep these pesky emotions/thoughts/memories down back where you feel they belong- out of sight, out of mind.

Considering they bite your fingers, it sounds like despite your efforts you are unable to avoid them. You may have fears that confronting them could have a negative impact on your ability to do things since we do things with our hands.

You may want to explore what the color blue means to you. http://sueb.hubpages.com/hub/Dreaming-of-Colors-A-

Also, the number 3 may be significant for you. 3, a trilogy can relate to many things- the trinity, past/present/future, family (mother/father/child).

My thoughts are you may need to figure out a way to look into this fish bowl instead of having this overwhelming and futile experience attempting to keep them contained. What is the worst that could happen?

In my dream I saw that while shopping someone left a piece of fish fillet and I picked it up and was giving it to someone I know who is a vegetarian, thinking she forgot it on the cashier's counter

This dream doesn't sound like it has to do with the fish.

It sounds like this dream may relate to you believing you or someone else is leaving something important behind that they may be rejecting but you see as something they needed and have forgotten.

Thank God I found this hub!!! There are two dreams that are driving me insane, not only because they don't make any sense but because I am terrified of the deep waters of the ocean.

#1. I was on top of a mountain, next to the ocean. I looked down and I was suddenly standing in the water ( TERRIFIED) as I looked down I could see a huge structure made of stone. Like the ruins of a castle from an aerial view, but in the deep ocean. I could feel my legs shaking at the sight. Then a school of fish just passed underneath me, Hundreds!!! I could see all this because the waters were as transparent as crystal. As I focus on the water whales and other HUGE animals were parading themselves under the water. I was too afraid to move. Then I woke up.

#2

I was in this house made of concrete, everything was concrete including a big fish pond in the middle of the living room. It housed 2 huge coy fish, beautiful but big. There was a huge staircase that led to the roof. When I got there everything was flooded, as far as my eyes could see, just a vast ocean with BIG FISH everywhere.

These two dreams have haunted me for years.

Hello ananceleste,

I am glad you found this hub too! Your dreams give a good example of how context is important. The fact that you have a signficant fear of deep ocean waters.

Since this is the case for you, it is very possible these dreams are reflecting fears and how you are coping with these fears at the time you had the dreams. Since it sounds like these dreams recurred, perhaps you have not resolved the fears or they were reflecting different fears over time for you.

#1. This first dream gives me the sense that you are reacting to something in your past within your unconscious. The old structure sounds like the old ruins of your life- an emotionally devastating event. Dreams of many things like school of fish often reflect for me feelings of overwhelm. The same can e said for huge animals. Perhaps there is something in your past, something emotional for you that you have avoided for a long time that now feels like it is simply too large and too messy for you to handle right now. Perhaps you have been so paralyzed by fear and anxiety that you have not made any progress in terms of resolving this issue for you.

#2 The house made of concrete gives me the impression that you have been too rigid and have over-protected yourself. Maybe you have attempted to contain the emotions you have but this was unsuccessful. Water on the roof often relates to the emotional events that are beyond our control. Perhaps you were in a situation that you felt you could not handle. Maybe you felt you had everything in order, you tentatively secured down everything and your little world would be ok if only the outside world would stop messing it up. The food of emotions and the big fish everywhere would represent what you need to confront, accept and resolve for yourself. My continuing to ignore it, it will get bigger for you and will be more challenging to address.

If I had these dreams, I may want to explore my current approaches and try to try something new. Maybe you need to let yourself get uncomfortable and try to confront these things. What is the worst that could happen? It sounds like your fears are bigger than the actual risk. There is an element in here that shows a need to be more flexible and adaptive to what is going on around you. Maybe you need to make adjustments to go with the flow at times, allow things to roll off your back and roll with the punches. This may mean you need to address what is bothering you from the past first.

Since these dreams have haunted you or years, you may want to start a dream journal and even continue to get opinions from others on your dreams. Dream sharing can be very beneficial. I recommend this site I wrote about: http://sueb.hubpages.com/hub/The-Best-Dream-Interp

Oh my Lord! Yes , yes , yes and so yes. It is so true, I wish I had found this years ago so I wouldn't be so resistant to accept that, unfortunately things happened that are totally out of my control. You have no idea how those dreams have haunted me. And for the sake of validating your analysis, yes, I have been on survival mode since I was very small and that defined how I sheltered myself from people. That need to protect myself has led me to control everything that I do like a Daily planner, when things did not went according to plan I would crumble inside, even if no one noticed.

It wasn't until a couple of years ago, when my health deteriorated to the point of no return, that I came to accept that in reality life cannot be layed out in a piece of paper. My own doctor ( and friend) told me that I was a control freak! and it was killing me. I was hurt and confused. I have never wanted to control anyone, he sensed my confusion and said that I have been a TYRANT to myself, and too compliant with the people I thought I needed to impress. thanks to you I have connected all the dots!! You re right my dear.

I have very vivid, lucid dreams. That is one of the reasons that I hate to sleep.

Thank you so much, even though I have these kinds of dreams, these fish related dreams were particularly frightening for me. For a reason I can't comprehend, I am very much afraid of 90% of the elements in those two dreams. Now that you linked the symbolism to content it makes me feel relieved. Blessed is your soul!

i had a dream i was in the ocean in a boat smallish sailboat there were 5 other boats around me from a kayak rowboat to a large sailboat i felt familiar with the people but ididn't recognize them in the dream i saw something in the distance coming towards us a marlin fish vivid blue and yellow with something riding on its back it was approaching us rapidly i realized it was going to attack us i had all the boats huddle together and it cam full throttle at us we quickly separated the boats and it came, thru us down the middle then it was turning around to come back again and i woke up any thoughts comments

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 2 months ago

Hi claire,

I hope my hub helped you find some meaning in this dream. Boats relate to cars (I have another hub on cars if you want to review it) and, to me, they relate to how we are navigating and what direction we are taking. Boats specifically can relate to our inner journey involving our unconscious. Since you were in the sailboat, perhaps you feel like you are at the mercy of unseen forces around you and do not have control over where you are going. The other boats may represent other aspects of you- perhaps disowned since you did not readily recognize them. I have found people associate the number 5 with completion with focus on our physical/day-to-day. 5 can also relate to our five senses and even the direction we are taking in life (5 fingers on each hand, hand is normally what we are doing, our actions). Anyway, I can go on and on about numbers. The fish you describe sounds beautiful yet you fear and and perceive an attack. Since I see this fish as a part of you bubbling up from your unconscious, it sounds like you are not only identifying this part of you (perhaps an emotion or something associated with an emotion you would rather not feel and gain insight into) as outside of you but that you feel threatened by it. Perhaps you feel you cannot avoid it and fear it will shatter who you are and break you (it breaks up the boats). If this was my dream, I would try to explore further what this fish is for me, understand it is not going to harm me, and confront it instead of attempting to protect yourself from it and avoid it.

I usually wake up remembering my dreams. This morning I remember one particular segment. My husband and I were in a large Japanese restaurant. It was a tasting restaurant and the Japanese chef decided your food and served you your food. Everyone stood up placed spaced apart at long wooden tables. The tables were the height meant to stand not sit. Couples and groups stood together. The Japanese chef served the two of us small black fish - maybe four inches long and one inch wide. We were to bite into them whole. They were cooked. When I bit into mine hundreds of small round black eggs started falling out of the fish and my mouth. All over the floor and table. They kept falling from my mouth. The Japanese chef smiled. It was a great honor to receive the fish with the eggs - like he had not planned to give it to me yet was not surprised I received it. I was mortified like I had done something wrong to get this 'fish full of eggs'. My husband seemed indifferent. He really didn't do much in the dream - was rather just there A's a bystander.

I had a dream that 3 fish, one was just like Gil(the fish off finding nemo, at the dentist office, kind of a big fish) the other two I have no clue what kind they were! But they were swimming in clear water. It was as if I was underwater with them. I have never really had dreams about fish, but I hear people say it may have som ething to do with pregnancy! Would that be for myself or someone else?

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 2 months ago

Fish could mean a lot of things in dreams. It is possible it has to do with pregnancy and conception. Some pregnant women early on actually do report dreaming of fish more often then moving up to more complex creatures as they are closer to full-term.

To me, fish dreams tend to relate to what we are just becoming aware of within our unconscious. Swimming with the fish could mean you are in touch with feelings and are able to really submerge yourself in the ideas. The clear water sounds like it is indicating that things are clear for you and stable.

And then the day before that I had a dream about me being in a cabin house and there was 3 snakes and they weren't mean or anything but I grabbed one by one and put a rubber band around their mouth so they had no chance to harm me...

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 2 months ago

This dream sounds like it relates to your subconscious, social self, your relationship with your husband and a lack of control over the events in your life (this can be positive or negative).

The Japanese chef may represent something you do not fully understand and you feel is dictating your life and in control over what you receive and what you can get. The table represents you socially. Perhaps you are uncomfortable with how others perceive you, judge you, and you are always on your toes yet do not feel very close to others.

The small black fish sounds like it is representing something mysterious for you.

The eggs can symbolize potential although this seemed to have a negative connotation for you. Perhaps you feel as though you are different from others, may even be special and receiving something significant spiritually/emotionally/etc. although you are embarrassed to show it. You were mortified as if you did something wrong-- perhaps this is showing you that you tend to think negatively about yourself and events and misunderstand what is going on for you. Is your husband indifferent in real life? Perhaps you are going through something internally and feel like you do not have others to discuss it with.

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 2 months ago

Jade- You may want to read this hub on snakes: http://sueb.hubpages.com/hub/Dreaming-of-Snakes

three tends to relate to past/present/future and the cabin would relate to you isolating yourself and being alone with your thoughts- maybe even close minded- even if this is just temporarily. Protecting yourself from these snakes sounds like it means you feel threatened and are being proactive. Snakes could relate to a lot of different aspects. If I had this dream, I would want to get in touch with these snakes and start to recognize that although i may experience pain emotionally, it is not going to hurt you and it is for the best of your well-being.

I dreamed of bathing in an old run down home. I was taking a bath and I see a goldfish swimming around in the bath. It was really pretty and had a beautiful tail that looked like it had long hairs like that of a jellyfish. I tried to catch it and then it sting me! all of a sudden my leg hurt and my back and arm. I was being stung all over my body so I got out of the bath and scooped the fish with a cup and drained the bath. Then when I looked back there was probably over 50 of those little fish in the bath dying and gasping for air, they were the ones who stung me and my body was covered in red marks.

Yesterday I had a dream about fish swimming upstream and the stream was in the front yard of my neighbors house I'm unsure what kind they were but out of them all was a catfish that my husband grabbed from the stream saying" this is mine" meaning his.... can u please help me with this one?

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 2 months ago

Poodle-

To me, it sounds like your dream is reflecting your emotional state and the pain you feel when you begin to acknowledge and get in touch with your emotions.

Taking a bath often reflects submerging ourselves in our unconsious and emotions. This can be painful but it is worth it- we are cleansed and free at the end. The fish are representing what you are coming into contact with from your unconscious. Although you feel stung, it is important to continue to address these emotions. The old run down house sounds like it is reflecting your current emotional/psychological state. You may need some TLC!

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 2 months ago

Fish swimming upstream could relate to either fish reproducing (I believe some do this) Reproduction often relates to our growth potential, new ideas, new beginnings, new creativity. Swimming upstream is also a tough way to swim- perhaps this could also relate to you feeling like something is an uphill battle and you are going about things the hard way.

Your husband claiming something has his sounds like it reflects a dynamic in your relationship. Do you feel as though he is selfish? Do you feel as though he is smothering you and not giving you enough room to breath? do you feel as though he is taking something from you (even if he is unaware)? Perhaps your relationship needs more balance for you. Perhaps you need more "me" time if he is disrupting an important emotional and psychological process for you.

wow, interesting! This sounds like you are dreaming of something unconscious that you are just beginning to take in. It sounds like this was all disowned by you and you have gone back to retrieve it. You still sound a little conflicted since you believed you weren't supposed to eat some of them. It's interesting that this is baby fish-- perhaps this means this is either new or is a new potential or growth for you. Although strange, sounds like a very positive dream.

John G, that is very interesting. Was this a pleasant, negative or just strange dream for you? What do you think it means? I get the impression that the fish can represent something within your unconscious that could come out in things you do but you want to keep it in- perhaps you do not want others to see it or perhaps you need to continue to keep it instead of losing it. I can see it both ways. Interesting, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Sue. I have married into a family recently with alot of new children - step children. We don't plan to have any kids and I don't have any of my own. I'm living in a new state far away from where I have lived for the past ten years - your interpretation was helpful and made alot of sense. I was anxious about the eggs thinking the dream was telling me I was wasting away my 'eggs' or not using them like I should to have my 'full blood' children. Thanks again for your insight. I dreamed last night that I was in a village can't remember if it was china or native american, and I had a spiritual mother who wanted to show me a vision, she took me outside and I looked up and there were 3 koi fish multi colored but blue and red were evident they were floating all in the same direction side by side straight, then almost like the shape of a t a 4th fish pointing to the belly of the 4th fish also multi colored, so that all 4 fish looked like a t with 3 on top one side ways. When looking at the fish I felt happy like all the fish were happy I just didn't know why the one fish wasn't in the row straight. ( a little info) iam expecting and have 3 boys already. So idk if this dream has anything to do with my kids.

So I dreamed about a fish that was caught and tried to be cooked...but it wouldn't die...it had special powers because it couldn't die in the hot grease....it was talking....don't remember what it said..but it had Chinese language written on its belly and I just knew it had special  powers...

This sounds like a very spiritual and maternal dream for you. If you are questioning if the dream has to do with your kids then I would guess it does have at least partial meaning about your kids. Koi fish tend to be representative of spiritual knowledge. Being pregnant could do some interesting things to our dreams! Perhaps this one feels different for you in some way- perhaps this is your last child and you feel this last pregnancy is completing your childbearing.

Blue and Red tend to be symbolic of male and female energies and the combination of these two colors could relate to children. The T shape is interesting, although I usually interpret this as a fork in the road/decision making type symbol, in your dream, it sounds more like it relates to a christian cross (to carry on the spiritual symbols) or the phrase "to a t" which would relate to something being exact or perfect. Overall, it sounds like a pleasant dream that is reflecting positive feelings of satisfaction with what you have.

This fish sounds like it is representing something very special and powerful for you. I usually assume dreams like this are spiritual in nature. Considering fish often relate to our unconscious, it sounds like you were receiving a message from your unconscious although in a language you may not know. You still understand the importance of the message. Since the fish was being cooked, perhaps this is something new you will consume and take in so that it becomes part of your waking identity.

There were two scenes in my dream last night. The scenes took place at my parents' behind house (some plantation and drain). The first scene was about several dead black fish. The sizes of the dead black fish were average and they were placed on woods. There was a boy/girl (i forgot) touching one of the dead black fish. The second scene was about several dead red fish. They were in both size, average and small. One of the small red fish frightened me because it suddenly breathe and not died.

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 7 weeks ago

Hi Keith,

This sounds like a creepy dream. The woods is another symbol of an the unconscious. Black is also a color often associated with the unconscious and the unknown. To see dead black fish in the woods sounds like it would be a dream about what lies in your unconscious. The fact that the fish were dead could relate to not having something in its proper place to survive. Have you suffered a loss? Is something within you (heart, mind, soul) not being nurtured and is a fish out of water?

The red fish may be associated with anger- often a repressed emotion- or other passionate emotion. You were frightened that one was not dead- perhaps you have been attempting to kill off what these fish represent to you but you have not been successful. When we deny feelings, thoughts, and aspects of self we can kill them off in our minds and in our dreams but they always seem to come back.

The message of this dream then may be telling you that you cannot get rid of what is unpleasant that you are avoiding and in order to avoid the discomfort, you may need to confront something head on.

keith 7 weeks ago

Thanks Sue. I didn't suffer any loss. But I've made an investment this month. Would this dream be a possible signal or warning for my investment? All the fish in my dream were out of water. How about if the fish were in orange color and same situation like the red fish?

I had a dream that i was walking in a street in my hometown calmly and at peace while fish were swimming all around me and a breeze just flowing through my hair. i woke up and when i went back to sleep i dreamt that i was looking up online the interpretation of fish in dreams. weird because i have never looked up what any of my dreams meant. but i was all of a sudden curious about looking it up when i woke up. and i find it means conception :)

That is interesting, Martha. Since it is your dream- you would know what meaning clicks most for you. As you can see from my hub, fish mean a lot more to me than conception- although that is one possible meaning. Even conception does not always mean conception to me! Dreams can sometimes take a more physical or biological idea and use it as a more abstract metaphor- i could see your dream having a more positive psychological or spiritual meaning related to realizing potential and the coming together of two to create a larger whole.

Last night i dreamt of a shallow pool of stingrays. As i walked around the edge of the pool i found a baby ray out of the water. It was flapping and gasping. I picked it up and put it back into the water. It seemed to be ok and swam off. As i continued to walk around the pool i found more rays out of the water. I was frantically putting them back into their pool. Some of them were dead already, and i was trying to save them anyway. I woke up in the middle of holding a dead ray in the water.

#1 i just had a dream, that i was talking with somebody on the beach when suddenly i saw a huge fish coming out from the water, i could still remember the details on its wings and tails and in my dream i was telling this guy friend of mine (the one i was talking to) that it looked like an angel's wings.. it was as huge as a whale..but it looked like a gold fish yet with a greyish color..it came out from the water as if it was flying gorgeously and landed on the surface and i was pulling this guyfriend telling him to come with me and look at it.. then a female friend (which i recognized) also came, brought a ladder, and went up to the back of the fish, rode on it, and i was telling her to come down for she might get hurt when the fish would move..but the fish didn't move..its eyes were just rolling as if looking at me and saying it's okay..then my guyfriend tried to tease me, he went to the side of the fish and tried to touch it as if scratching it for the fish to open its mouth..and when it opened its mouth my guyfriend stuck its arm to the fish's mouth as if wanting it to bite him..i got scared and screamed at him demanding him to stop..the fish didn't bite him though...i thought to myself i had enough so i went out of the scene and my guyfriend followed me..

#2 i was talking to someone again when an image of a tree passed by..it was like an acacia tree..then i told to this someone that i was talking to that i want to search what it meant to see that image,,then we found a book, and there a saw the tree and confirmed to myself that it really was an acacia tree,,then i told to this somebody that now i know what my tattoo would look like, and its gonna be the acacia tree..because i was trying to look for a design that would be unique to be my tattoo for the past few days..then this somebody asked me,,so, if they'd ask what your tattoo meant, how are you gonna answer or what would your answer be..and it made me think for a while,,realizing yeah, what would it mean then..and i jokingly said,,uhmm the tree of life? and that was it :)

I had a dream last night and in that dream I was talking to a man about saving the water supply from being contaminated. Next thing you know I'm swimming deep in the ocean. I see two or three fish but mostly crabs and sharks. I got scared so I began swimming backwards and I swam past the point where I got in at. I got out and was very shaken up. What do you think about that?

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 6 weeks ago

Elizabeth,

Thank you for touching upon something I need to add to this hub- stingrays. Stingrays can mean a few things but if you know enough about them, they could represent the balance of gliding/going with the flow and the ability to defend yourself. Overall, stingrays are very adaptive to their environment and blend in. In your dream, it sounds like these stringrays were describing how well you were manuveuring through emotions. Since they were out of water and dying, perhaps by not keeping in touch with your emotions and unconscious needs, something important and instrumental for you is suffering. What is positive about this dream is that you are rescuing yourself and attempting to put things in their right order. You recognize that the way you have been regulating your emotions by avoiding them is harmful and came with a price. My guess would be your upcoming dreams would be different since you have realized something in this dream and will most likely change your approach.

Hi Sue! I had a dream where I was watching my fish tank when one of my favorite fish was attacked and eaten by a spotted eel (a fish I do not have, or even know exists!). I remember being very scared seeing it happen, as the eel looked mean and almost seemed to be smirking as he chewed on my fish. I woke up in a sweat. What do you think?

i was pulling slim colord fish out of the corner of my eyes. while draining this white skim milk like fluid out of the side of my head just behind the temple. but befor I could drain the white fluid I pulled a black fish out. the fish were about as long as a lighter (maxim Length), and about as big around as the average females pinky finger. what do you think thats about? not to mention it in a place only familiar to me in my dreams not real life.

I dreamt of caring for two goldfish in an aquarium last night. It seemed like I owned the aquarium. My sister was helping me care for the fish. The rectabgular aquarium was placed in the table in the middle of the guest room of my aunt's house, though. I realised that I had not fed the fish. But then I began to collect them in some other containers. Then I realised with the cover of the aquarium the fish would suffocate and I left it open. Somebody then tripped over the aquarium causing it to smash to pieces. Then I ran crazy collecting them in a big black bag and kept it in the couch. Somebody again sat over it and then ir burst. I was again collecting them crazily.( There were just two fish all the time.) I was doing something with eggs... Chicken eggs .... When the bag burst. So I broke an egg kept it in a big bowl. I found a pair of my jeans where the bag burst instead of the bag! When I hold the jeans one of them dropped, I took it and kept it in the bowl with water but with egg yolk spilled and floating! The fish, as was hungry was eating the yolk. I was suspicious if it would die by eating more but I turned my attention on the other fish which as well dropped out of that blue jeans. When I kept this fish in the bowl, something happened! This one was dead for sure but the other was not. However, both turned to lumps of fish pieces way bigger like that of the fish pieces I cook usually however the color was still the same like that of the goldfish. I was very sad. I dug the fish with a huge funeral where there were many people. All the time my cousin who is very near to me kept watching it like an audience of a drama viewing it. This was it my dream. Talking about my real life associations, I am a hindu ever since I was brought up but the grand funeral everybody eating and discussing about end and beginning of lives was unnatural of all! Where I come from everybody is sad and there are crazy rituals which are completely different! Though above all, 4 years back I had a fish pot which my boyfriend had gifted me on my birthday with two goldfish. Both of them died. Then I bought more different kinds of small fishes. I could never keep them for long. They would die. I would just dig them myself alone or sometime with a close friend watching and pray for it to rest in peace and apologizing to have not been able to care for them. Could anyone please interpret what my current dream signifies?

Hi Goose,

It sounds like that eel may represent something that is unconscious for you. Perhaps you have a fear of the unknown within you and worry that if you ever acknowledged it, it would destroy or threaten something else you find important. Most dreams seem like they represent an internal battle of expressing drives/desires/perspectives that feel as though they are a odds, that we must choose only one (like a death match) yet we only achieve balance when we realize opposites can co-exist in harmony and we can have an internal win-win situation.

Hi Sue, I'm So glad to find your website. I Had a dream that I was fishing. The water was dark but I can see the fish swimming under the water. I knew and was so confident about fishing that every time I threw my fishing pole, I would catch a fish, in different sizes, and they are all color black. After I caught the fish, I threw them all on the ground next to where I sit, no bucket to put them in. I never fish before so I'm not sure what my dream meant. Can you please interpret the meaning of my dream? Thank you!

Hi Togz, thanks for commenting. Since you seem to be doing a lot of work in your dreams, I recommend you keep a dream journal. You can keep one on dreamscloud.com and also get interpretations/reflections on your dreams from others.

Here are my thoughts:

#1. The fish sounds like a magnificent and beautiful aspect of your unconscious- perhaps spiritual. We often fear the unknown which your character reflected. The male and female on this dream could represent aspects of self and different perspectives. They sound like they are displaying how to integrate this aspect of self into who you are a bit better and acknowledge it instead of fearing it. The female was riding it- this often means you will go with the flow and manage emotions instead of either being ruled by them or attempting to overcontrol/repress them. Your reaction to the man's hand in the fish's mouth may reflect a fear that if you give this aspect of self power of expression- it may consume other aspects of self. If I had this dream, I would explore how I could balance all aspects of self and shake off the idea that I need to choose one or the other.

#2 This sounds like a dream in which you are continuing to develop personally & spiritually. You are receiving important information about your inner self. Since you are thinking of a tattoo- this may reflect the progress you are making towards selecting an identity and understanding who you are in relation to the big picture.

Water typically relates to the unconscious, emotions or a bit of both. To be worried that the water supply could become contaminated may mean you either fear the negative influence of others/environment or may have unsubstantiated fears about how harmful what is unknown and unconscious could be to you. Swimming in the ocean sounds like you are exploring your unconscious. The fish you encounter represent what has become conscious for you. Seeing crabs and sharks represent what you feel threatened by. Perhaps the unknown, painful memories and uncomfortable feelings threaten you. You swim past the point in which you got in so perhaps the dream brought you back towards your past. It sounds like the thoughts/feelings you struggle with now originate there. Although this dream is uncomfortable and scary, it sounds like you are beginning to address these issues which sound like it is for the best even though it is not pleasant along the way.

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 5 weeks ago

Hello eddie, although the images of this dream sound rather strange and gross, the meaning sounds a bit literal. It sounds like you were releasing something from your mind- the temple area is often associated with stress (we often have headaches there when stressed). The fish sound like they are aspects of thoughts/feelings that you were releasing. The black fish could be associated with something you were not fully in touch with or something a bit negative such as depressive feelings or dark thoughts/feelings.

If I had this dream, I would reflect on it and attempt to understand if I was releasing something that I needed to release or was I somehow feeling drained by what was in this milk-like fluid? I would associate the fluid with things not being very clear- not having full clarity on the issue.

Dheea, that is interesting. Both of those images tend to refer to the unconscious for me (forest and water). I'm interested to know what that dream meant to you. I could see it as a surprising navigation through the unknown (who would think a fish would be able to swim through a forest?) and possibly a fish-out-of-water reference that is somehow beating the odds.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi, I dreamt of two small black fish that I am rescuing out of two very small packets and letting them loose into a bucket of overflowing water. In the dream for a second I consider letting them loose in a bucket of Coke/Pepsi, but then decide against it as I remember thinking the fish would be invisible in that and may even die. So I release them into the bucket of water despite their strong resistance. I try to remove some water as the bucket is overflowing and I'm afraid the fish may flow out of it. The fish are very small but very strong and I have to hold them real hard...at the last minute the second fish bares shark-like teeth at me, but doesn't hurt me...Please help me interpret the dream? Thank you!

Rosie 5 weeks ago

Hi Sue, I hope you can help with this dream I had last night.

I was at home with my family (being explicitly happy, I remember), when the glass of our fish tank/fishbowl broke. Most of the water and two or three orange goldfish fell out onto the floor. I panicked and quickly handed over the goldfish to my mom, so that she could put them into a bowl or a bucket of water to save them. When I turned around to look for more fish, the fishtank was suddenly whole again. Instead of putting the fish in water, my mom had put them on a plate, so they were dying. I was angry with her, but thought about the fish first en threw them back into the repaired fishtank as fast as I could. But it was too late, and the fish were dead.

I don't really care for our goldfish that much in real life, but I was a sad about the dead fish at first in this dream. But then five minutes later I was fine again, like being indifferent with the fact...

hi Snigdha,

My first impression is that you are compartmentalizing your feelings and attempting to contain something that cannot be contained very easily. The fish sound like they represent something within you that you are not fully taking care of or acknowledging. This could be emotions or another aspect of self that is a bit subconscious right now for you. You seem to try to hide it only to have the fish threatened by carelessness or disregard. Is this what you are doing to yourself? These fish seem like a big deal. The eggs can relate to new beginnings and potentials. If the fish were relating to something old you are releasing and letting go of at this huge funeral, perhaps they are representing the old door closing and the new door opening. We still mourn the old door before we move forward. The fish could also represent something that you still need to honor and care for. You know your dream, do these fish seem like something important you are not caring for properly or something you are letting go off?

Hi Karen,

I think your dream is interesting and positive. It sounds like you are fishing for something literally! Have you been exploring your subconscious and attempting to reach a new level of personal growth? The confidence may relate to feeling confident in general and believing you will succeed. Do you have trust in knowing or in fate or a higher power? You don't have a bucket so perhaps you cannot contain what new information you are catching so quickly. It is up to you, I think, to figure out if you can't contain it and are losing some of the information or you shouldn't contain it as it is unnatural. The color black in general sounds like it is showing not everything is clear to you and some things are out of your reach of awareness- for now.

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 5 weeks ago

Hi Vinny,

My first impression about your dream is that you have encountered a part of your subconscious that is resistant to you in some way. Keep in mind, the unconscious is you so a part of you was resistant to being contained and being in water that allowed you to see it, a part of you was threatening and baring teeth. The fish were black which is the color of the unknown and mysterious.

The bucket of overflowing water sounds like you have more emotion and more information than you can contain right now. Perhaps you have been over-controlling your emotions and this is backfiring. Something does not sound like it is flowing naturally for you. What is positive about this dream is your effort and motivation to attempt to understand and acknowledge these fish no matter how difficult it was.

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 5 weeks ago

Hi Rosie,

My first impression is that this dream is reflecting a dynamic you have had with your mom.

Fish are often associated with our feelings and emotions as well as the potentials and hidden aspects of self bubbling up from our unconsciousness.

it is interesting the fish tank broke only to find it whole again. Perhaps your experience and your stress is based on your perception and fear associated with events and is shaded by you. You look to your mom for help- do you do this often? Do you look for her to fix things for you only to be disappointed in what she does? Has she not acknowledged your feelings the way you need her to? Has she allowed your dreams and what is important to you to die? Do you feel angry towards her yet repress it quickly and move on and become indifferent?

Perhaps your dream is helping you see this dynamic and become aware so you can make adjustments and changes to your approaches.

Hi Sue,

A thousand thanks. You are right. I had many tasks to be accomplished in the time I dreamt of it. Glad that most of them are over by now. The dream or say my subconsciousness then must have been suggesting me to take care of them and maybe somehow easily let them go if I had felt that I am aiming very high. Because now I realise that I was aiming to complete many goals at once. I was stressed as well. And usually all my dreams usually look like my real life experiences. But this one bothered me because it was different and I lost those fish. I now see your point and can relate it to my real world.

You are an angel! Thank you again.

I keep having dreams of being in the water with fish. i am usualy swimming to shore or i have just flown down into a river or am excaping off a large ship or am on a friends boat. i never see any fishing rods or nets and only catch them by hand and quite easily. The water is always clear and they rarely ever swim away from me if i aproach them. Recently iv noticed that if i called them theyd come to me without problem. I am alway happy in the water & with the fish and they havent ever shown any agression or struggel. There seems to be only two types of fish iv seen as well, sucker fish and some kind of common silver backed with a white belly. They are always large, except for the one dream where i swam through a huge school of minow's before seeing the larger fish. Sometimes, i see a dead fish, but i never find them dead. It would seem as if i killed them by mistake, by the water being too warm or something. Them being out of water doesnt seem to be a problem.

I frequently have dreams that I realize I have a fish tank in my home that I must have forgotten about, and by them time I realize this, my fish are 1/2 dead from starvation and the tank is dirty. I somehow always manage to save the fish, but I feel horribly guilty afterwards for letting it get to that point and cant understand how I could have forgotten to feed the fish.

Im assuming it has something to do with procrastination? But why fish?

Hi Jasminn,

Catching a lot of colorful fish could relate to gaining colorful and vibrant insights from your unconscious. This sounds like a positive dream. Jellyfish can have a few meanings but in such a positive dream, they may relate to going with the flow. It could be this going with the flow behavior that may have allowed you to listen more carefully to your unconscious.

My dream was that I had a huge pet fish. Sometimes he was just swimming around aimlessly in the ocean and other points in my dreams he was confined in like a small tank/ bag (kind of like when you buy a tiny god fish and they put it in a bag) but the bag/ tank containing the fish was still in the ocean. There were times when he was swimming around in the ocean and my sister kept kicking it out and it would start to flop around as though it would die. It got weak but i never died because i kept putting it back in the ocean & it would start to swim around aimlessly again. Some strange stuff!

In the dream we were walking through the woods and it may have been dim or night (not sure). We passed through some streams and saw big fish jumping in the water bountifully. I was glad they were camping with me and on our way to meet people and to show them all the great things in the woods. There were lots of fish that seemed happy. Any ideas of what it may mean? Clare,

your dream certainly gave me a giggle. If this was my dream I would explore the following:

-the goldfish may relate to an emotional subject for you. Breastfeeding may relate to you nurturing this aspect of self or this emotion. What are you feeding?

-since this goldfish only has one eye- are you overly focused on what it is symbolizing? are you lacking perspective? are you seeing things as only one way when there are other options?

-Being in the cafe in general could relate to where you are getting your nourishment/energy from and the dream overall can be helping you explore what you overall give your energy to.

thank you for commenting and sharing your fish dream, lauren.

Your dream gives me the impression that you are experiencing inner harmony and are in touch with your emotions and exploring your subconscious with relative ease.

You gave some interesting symbols here. I could see the sucker fish as being associated with a tendency to be a "sucker" or to clean up the emotional mess (emotional management). The dead fish could be the emotions or unconscious aspects that you have neglected yet they could also be the aspects that are no longer of use for you.

hi Tamara,

Interesting dream. If you assume it has something to do with procrastination then it does. I think your dream could also relate to you neglecting yourself in some way- perhaps not taking care of yourself emotionally.

Why fish you ask? They are a common symbol which is why I wrote a hub about them. They are opposite than us- they breath in water, we cannot. Water is often associated with emotions and the unconscious. Since fish exist within a symbol of emotions/unconscious they are often associated with the ideas or the conscious aspects of our emotions/unconscious. To dream you've neglected them sounds like you are becoming aware of neglecting something important within your psyche. You feel horribly guilty in this dream- perhaps guilt is one emotion that is creating some of these issues for you. Do you neglect yourself because you feel guilty that your energy is not going elsewhere?

amy14,

Thanks for commenting and sharing your dream. It sounds like your dream changed over time which usually means to me you worked something out. Perhaps you have been trying to control and contain your emotions and thoughts too much and have recently learned to let go and allow things to flow a bit more healthier for yourself. It sounds like you released some feelings and personal actions that were causing you to become upset and sad.

Sue B. profile image

Sue B. Hub Author 2 weeks ago

Jodi,

it sounds like this huge pet fish is representing an aspect of yourself- your emotional self that is somewhat unconscious for you. When he is swimming freely, it sounds as though your emotions are managed well and flowing in a healthy manner. To be contained in a bag, sounds like you are attempting to bottle up emotions. We really can't do this although we can attempt so it does make sense he was still in the ocean in the bag.

Since your sister played a role in this dream, perhaps you feel she is having a negative influence on your life or you are having negative feelings related to your sister. Does she suffocate you and make it difficult for you to "breath" or get what you need/deserve? It sounds like you manage this situation with your sister since you kept putting the fish back in the ocean but it sounds like you need to actively manage this situation with your sister in order to stay healthy.

Demetria,

your dream is interesting. eating a fish can relate to taking something in and accepting something unconscious which is a positive symbol. A fish inside a fish sounds like you are truly getting in touch with something deep- the fish is hidden within a fish and the fish is already as symbol of something unconscious and emotional that we are just becoming aware of. It sounds like you are peeling back a lot of layers and gaining insight into yourself and accepting this hidden aspects of self.

My first time for a dream about Fish. I was in a friendly forrest and there was a very clean, crystal clear pond (I could see the sand at the bottom). There seemed to be between 5-7 gigantic gold fish either gently swimming or just resting in the pond. A Gigantic Koi fish starts to swim quickly agitating (exciting) all the other fish, so they all become active and swim at jaw dropping speeds creating a noise louder than a lorry horn. I am not afraid just aware they need more space to swim. This prevented me from using the boat to get back to the other side, instead I took the side road (once a truck passed by). Just found this dream to be very clear, poignant. What does this mean?

tnc- This sounds like such a lovely dream. Since you are dreaming of both woods and water, I would say this is a dream about your unconscious. Your parents may represent part of your unconscious- perhaps the parts that they have influenced. Camping sounds like a trip into your unconscious and a retreat.

The big fish jumping sound like all that is jumping out at you from your unconscious. Overall the dream sounds like you have gained a lot of insight and awareness.

This dream sounds like it is related to spiritual development and psychological growth & development.

The pond sounds like it is showing you that you need more room to develop these aspects.

The road may be showing you that you may need to alter your path in order to allow for your personal growth. Perhaps there is not enough room in your life right now to truly honor what these fish are representing for you and allow them to flourish further.

I had a dream that I was walking in a pond of dead fish with my mom and my pregnant cousin. As we were walking sharks began to swim around us and jump into the air. I have dreamed of fish 3 times within the last 2 weeks and I found out that 3 of my friends were pregnant but whats up with the dead fish and sharks?

Sinea,

This sounds like a scary dream for you. You may want to check out my profile fore more articles such as dreaming of water.

Maybe during a time in which you were attempting to unwind and relax, you found yourself confronted with emotions coming into your consciousness that need your attention.

is there something you put off dealing with?

Green can relate to greed, materialism or our connections to others. Does that relate to anything in your waking life?

Sheiva,

These sound like disturbing dreams for you. A pond can represent an area in which our emotions have no outlet and may not be expressed. This can often lead to a lot of emotional turmoil that may be symbolized in our dreams as things that scare us- dead fish (neglected emotions) sharks (the emotions that threaten us if we dare confront them).

You just found out that 3 friends are pregnant. This may have more to do with you than your friends. How do you feel that your friends are pregnant? Do you want to be pregnant? Is this stirring up some unpleasant emotions for you that you are attempting to avoid?

I can't really think of any unexpressed emotions. I start nursing school in the Fall so that is a little overwhelming and stressful as far as finances go. All of my friends have told me that they are pregnant and I am happy for them but I don't plan to have children anytime soon, at least until 2016.

Sheiva, perhaps the dream relates to fears- either related to yourself/schooling or related to your friends/worrying about them. Perhaps you worry this will change the relationships you have?
